Senegal opens a gateway to a world of diverse cultures, breathtaking landscapes and enriching experiences. Let’s take a look at the paired countries and how to get to them from Senegal below.

The Gambia

The Gambia is an English speaking country famed for its welcoming people, stunning beaches, and rich cultural history. The people of this area are so warm and welcoming that they’ve earned the region the nickname “The Smiling Coast of Africa”. Some of the tourist attractions include James Island now known as Kunta Kinteh Island, Kachikally Crocodile Pool, Abuko Nature Reserve, Kotu Beach, Juffureh and so much more. A major tourist attraction in The Gambia is the Senegambian stone circles or Wassu stone circles, a UNESCO World Heritage site, it is believed that these circles were royal burial sites dating back to about 750 and 1000 A.D.

How to enter The Gambia from Senegal

By air- One way you can get to The Gambia from Senegal is to go by air. Some of the airlines that you can use are Air Senegal, Air Peace, Groupe Transair but you should do some research and compare costs with other airlines that are available. Flights depart from Blaise Diagne Airport in Dakar, Senegal and land in Banjul in The Gambia. If you are taking a direct flight, you should arrive in 40 minutes. 

By land-  If you choose to take land transportation for any reason either to enjoy the scenery or to save costs, there are three options you can consider. You can board a bus which will take approximately 7 hours and 30 minutes and is the cheapest way to travel. Another option to explore is taking a car which will take a little over six hours. Alternatively, you can take a train which is faster than going by bus but is the most expensive way to travel. It will take you 3 hours and 40 minutes to enter The Gambia.

Cape Verde

Cape Verde, also known as Cabo Verde is a group of ten islands in the Atlantic Ocean that are famous for their breathtaking natural beauty. How to enter Cape Verde from Senegal

By air- You can travel to Cape Verde from Senegal by air. The trip will take approximately an hour and a half. Flights depart from Blaise Diagne Airport in Dakar, Senegal and land in Praia Airport in Cape Verde. Senegal’s national carrier, Air Senegal is an airline to fly to Cape Verde. You can do your research and compare costs with other airlines available.
